A number of my photographs have appeared on the Office of the Bursar home page. I enjoy nature photography and find images of patterns in nature especially inspiring. Some select unpublished but inspirational photographs also appear here. Please e-mail me if you would like to use my images.

Whether the cycling enthusiasts or the annual Little 500 bike race came first, there now exists a strong cyclist culture in Bloomington, where on sunny spring days riders pop up like tulips. Here, a cyclist pauses at the Sample Gates, where red and white tulips bloom in time for graduation weekend.

Early spring sprouts emerge amid melting snow, with the Student Building in the background.

Snow accents the features of a stone bench in front of Maxwell Hall. American Beech trees hold their dry leaves throughout winter and they rustle in the winter wind, livening the quiet of the cold.

The chrysanthemums planted around campus were quite breathtaking this year. This photograph highlights the beauty of the fall flowers against a backdrop of autumn foliage.

The view of Franklin Hall from the top of a nearby parking garage is perfect this time of year. Sugar and red maple plantings bring the natural beauty of the area to the IU campus.

The front entrance of Franklin Hall in late spring, appearing on the Office of the Bursar home page in June 2009. I retouched my original photograph using Adobe Photoshop to remove the bike rack and chain rail in front of Franklin Hall. The tree in the foreground is a Kousa dogwood, which blooms later and longer than our native dogwood, but after leafing, giving it a distinctive summer-flower look. The tree has special significance for Office of the Bursar staff, as it was planted in memory of a coworker.

IU traditionally plants tulips at the Sample Gates near Franklin Hall just in time for May graduation. They are always a beautiful sight, and make for colorful photographs of gowned graduates in front of the iconic stone arches. For this photo, I made use of the macro function on my point-and-shoot camera, resulting in a shallow depth of field. The Sample Gates are just distinguishable in the background. This photo was published on the Office of the Bursar home page in May 2009.
